Web architecture and development in Lyon

What is a web developer?

Perhaps you are looking for a freelance web developer in Lyon (or elsewhere), but wondering what exactly the job involves? If you look at the official job description for a web developer, this is what you will read:

"The web developer builds all the technical features of a website or web application. Technician or engineer, they design custom sites or adapt existing technical solutions to suit the project and the client's request".

Beyond this fairly general definition and the usual clichés, a good web developer is, in my view, a true computing enthusiast.

You can't do this job half-heartedly: you have to be rigorous, put the time in and put your heart into it.

My work as a freelance web expert

Working as a freelance web expert is often more varied than people like to think. Of course, writing lines of code is still the core of the job. But did you know that there is no single code for a given program? Each developer brings their own creativity, so the code differs from one programmer to another.

Developers are also there to fix problems on sites that are already live, or to provide technical support for the programs they have built. So they regularly work with their clients or colleagues, and need a certain taste for communication and for people.

Contrary to popular belief, mastering programming languages does not mean you can rest on your laurels. To remain an expert, you need to keep constantly up to date with changes and keep a permanent technology watch. A good developer must therefore be curious, but also self-taught, because they will keep learning throughout their career!

You can also be a passionate developer and feel like a creative graphic designer at heart. Yes, I love coding, but not only that, which is why I place great importance on aesthetics, and also on responsive design and the usability of the sites I work on.

A good developer hates wasting time! They will do their best to be as efficient as possible. Often, the best way to get a task done is also the quickest and simplest. In a word: optimisation!

My technical skills

I knew very early on that I would work in web development, which is why, after earning a BTS in computing (a French two-year technical diploma), I continued my studies and obtained two master's degrees: the first in applied computing and the second in business intelligence. They allowed me to enter the working world very quickly.

The variety of my professional experience gave me the chance to train in many technologies, while satisfying my curiosity and my passion for computing professions. Having to use different tools meant I did not limit myself to a single specialisation. I am as comfortable in web work as in mobile, or in software and project management.

Learning to code was the beginning of everything. That is why I still take great pleasure in putting my software expertise at your service. It draws on my technical skills with the Node.JS platform and the UML and C /C++ programming languages.

If you want to boost your business on the web, I help you grow it by creating or redesigning websites, both showcase sites and e-commerce. I am as comfortable with Frontend (HTML, CSS, Angular, React, Javascript, Chrome extensions, WebGL) as with Backend (PHP, Node.JS). I am also proficient with web services and CMSs such as WordPress.

With solid experience in mobile app development, I can support you through every stage of the process, from creation to updates, on both the App Store and the Google Play Store.

I move easily between the iOS (Objective-c, Swift) and Android (Java) operating systems.

I also really enjoy working in a team, which is why I naturally moved into project management, where I worked as a project manager and quality assurance manager. So I gained a solid command of Agile methodology: the Scrum framework and planning poker, the Kanban method and Gantt charts.

Why did I become Le Programmeur?

A famous indomitable Gaul fell into a certain cauldron as a child; well, I fell onto my father's old Amstrad and the computing bug has never left me since! I understood very early on what I wanted to do with my life and gave myself every possible means to reach my goal.

My first professional experience dates back 15 years already, and I am very happy with everything my career has taught me and given me so far. But as the urge to strike out on my own grew, it was high time to take the controls and change direction. I have always been driven by the spirit of innovation that reigns in the computing world, so it was only logical that the same should go for my career.

The recent boom in e-commerce, partly due to the health crisis, pushed many entrepreneurs to develop their business online. Demand for programmers able to meet their needs has grown all over France.

Becoming a freelance web expert in Lyon, my city, seemed obvious to me (on the understanding, of course, that I can work nationally and internationally).

And that is how "Le Programmeur" came about!

Communication agency, IT services company, micro-business, SME, large company or freelancer with no IT skills at all: you may need technical expertise, whether one-off or urgent.

Versatile, autonomous, motivated and methodical, I can take on several roles at the same time, a real asset for my clients and a real pleasure for me!

Let me be the one who listens to you and analyses your strategic needs.
